ZONTA St. Charles, established in 1962, is one of the longest standing clubs
    of Zonta International with a strong reputation for community projects that
    support the Zonta Mission.

    The beauty of Zonta is its ability to offer members the opportunity to give organized and effective service
    both locally and globally. Zonta also provides a rich diversity in its membership, having over 30,000
    members in 67 countries, as well as fellowship, leadership, networking, and travel opportunities at
    local, district, and international levels.

    Most important, Zonta allows you to give of yourself to help others, to actively participate in the selection
    of service projects to help your community, and to further the advancement of women around the world.

    Zonta St. Charles Objectives:

    · To provide service at the global and local level
    · To improve the, legal, political, economic, education, health and
     professional status of women.
    · To promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental
     freedoms.
    · To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill, and peace through
     a world fellowship of executives in business and professions.
    · To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement
     service programs, and to provide mutual support and fellowship for
     members who serve their communities, their nations, and the universe.

    What does "ZONTA" mean?

    · The outer square for "honest, trustworthy, and true"
    · The Z as a ray of "sunlight" or "life".
    · The triangles with the top bar of the square representing "shelter".
    · The inner lines of the triangles and the base below the Z meaning "to carry  
     together".
    · The trapezoid (minus the base) around the Z meaning "to band together for a
     purpose".

    Another common symbol of Zonta is the yellow rose.

        2010 Goals for St. Charles Zonta International

          * Continue to grow membership of professional women.
          * Prepare for  the third annual Yellow Rose Award Luncheon in spring 2010.
          * Continue to raise funds and awareness for the Zonta Marlene Fraser Irish
             scholarship fund.
          * Maintain “Comfort Closets” for victims of sexual assault and rape at all
            St. Charles County hospitals.
          * Promote and Prepare for the Zonta International Convention in San Antonio,
            Texas (June 24-30, 2010)
